Driver Education - PARENT/STUDENT MEETING (July 14)Middle & High School EnrichmentSTMA Driver Education - Parent/Student Meeting (Pre-registration is required. Walk-ins are not allowed.) Parent/Student Meetings are completely optional to attend. Students (14½ or older) together with a parent or guardian attend the meeting together. Should you choose to attend, we recommend attending the meeting around the time your student is eligible to enroll in an STMA Driver Education class or have already completed the STMA Driver Education course. If attended, your student will log 40 supervised driving hours rather than 50 hours if the meeting is not attended. Note: Enrolling in the Parent/Student Meeting does not enroll your student in a Driver Education class. The Driver Education class requires separate enrollment. NewDriver Education Online ClassroomMiddle & High School EnrichmentSTMA Driver Education Online Classroom The Basics: Students must be 15 years of age to register. Parent/guardian permission is required to take the course. Students must successfully attend all 30 classroom hours to be eligible to take the permit test. If students miss any time, up to a maximum of 3 hours, a make-up class will be held Monday, May 12, 2025, 4:00pm – 7:00pm. $395 includes 30-hours of online classroom instruction and 6-hours of Behind-the-Wheel (BTW). No refunds of the classroom portion of the fees within 5 days of the class start date. Online Course: This class offers an interactive experience facilitated by licensed Driver Education instructors. The curriculum covers the same content as the in-person classes. Students will engage in: visual presentations classroom discussions study tools practice tests guest speakers. This class uses the Google Meet online platform. Before registering, make sure your device meets the minimum requirements; view minimum requirements by clicking here. MN State Law requires instructors to be able to see and hear students during the entire online class session. Students must have a working device with both a camera and microphone. Students should be in a quiet location free from distraction and noise. Students will receive a “Class Confirmation” email with online meeting information 1-2 business days before the class. Additional Information and next steps: Students are required to have their permit for six months, complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, complete and log 40-50 hours of supervised driving, and be 16 years of age before they are eligible to take the road test for a driver's license. Math-By-MailMiddle & High School EnrichmentElevate math skills with Math-By-Mail's engaging curriculum, designed by experienced teachers. Independent study featuring enrichment activities. Customized packets tailored to student needs, with expert feedback. Complete at your own pace! Keep young minds active with the locally developed Math-By-Mail curriculum. Math practice accompanied by enrichment activities for the upcoming summer months. Created by current middle school math teachers with 45+ years of combined experience! Minnesota State Standards, Math Frameworks MCA strands, and current Minnesota Benchmarks are the foundational basis for this curriculum. With creative problem solving, multiple choice, short answer and vocabulary embedded into an 8-week course of independent study, students will maintain or increase the level of their math understanding, in addition to reviewing the recommended targets suggested by grade level in the Minnesota School Academic Standards for mathematics. Each student will be given a pretest to assess the appropriate skill level necessary to strengthen their individual math needs, unlike other programs that are exclusively grade level driven. Students will receive an 8-lesson packet to complete at their own pace throughout the summer. Not only are we offering our predetermined set of 8 packets, we will also offer an ala carte menu! Our added approach allows for individual choice regarding the skills and concepts students and parents can request to build math confidence. As students finish packets, they are mailed back for feedback and then returned to the students. All packets are due back by August 13 in order to provide timely feedback before the 2025 school year begins. Registration Ends June 23. Middle School Marching BandMiddle & High School EnrichmentStep into the world of marching band this June and discover the excitement of music and movement! Designed for middle school students with at least two years of playing experience, this course will teach you the basics of marching, music performance, and working together as a team. You’ll have the opportunity to play in a full marching band on wind instruments, percussion or color guard and prepare for an exciting performance at the Albertville Friendly City Days Parade on Sunday, June 15. Rehearsals will take place June 9 - 13 at Middle School West from 9:30am-12:00pm. Your registration fee includes a STMA MS Marching Band T-Shirt. Students will march in the Albertville Friendly City Days parade on Sunday, June 15th. Students will be involved in the parade for approximately 2 hours. Speed and Strength (Winter)Middle & High School EnrichmentSpeed and Strength Program - Before and After-School In this dynamic after-school program, students will focus on developing their athletic abilities through targeted exercises designed to improve both speed and strength. With professional coaching and guided workouts, participants will engage in a variety of drills, including sprint training, agility courses, weightlifting, and bodyweight exercises. The program emphasizes proper technique, injury prevention, and progressive improvement, catering to all fitness levels. Whether preparing for a specific sport or aiming for overall fitness, this program fosters discipline, confidence, and resilience, helping students achieve their personal best in physical performance. Open to all talent levels, this club makes learning theater fun and rewarding! Full Description: Summer Theater Club provides an opportunity to be a part of the STMA Theater Community! If you've ever wanted to be a part of a production, but were worried about auditions, this is your opportunity! Theater Club is open to all talent levels, and it is a great way to learn the “in's and out's” of theater. We will be going over all aspects of theater--from acting, directing, production, technical including lights and sound—and we will perform many short plays that are student directed, acted and designed! Students will learn blocking, memorizing, characterization, designing, directing, lighting, sound, set build, prop creation and costuming all while having fun putting on shows for the community! Students will break into groups of around 10. Each group will put on a short 15-20 minute production (picked by Mr. Mann) showcasing their talents and skills which they learned throughout this summer course. This class is open to incoming 8th graders to graduating seniors. Performance Date: July 29th, 6:00-8:00pm in PACSummer 2025
