DAY I: Tobies: Rest stop, enjoy a coffee and roll on our way to Duluth. Glensheen Mansion (self-guided tour): The estate is located on the shores of Lake Superior. Guests view the family living and work spaces showcasing original interiors in styles ranging from Renaissance Revival and Colonial Revival to Arts & Crafts. Also view the basement, first floor, and second floor. The mansion’s central hallway is paneled from floor to ceiling with fumed oak, a process whereby the oak is treated with ammonia fumes to bring out the grain and imbue the wood with an unusual color. Take time to enjoy the beautiful lakefront grounds featuring meticulous plantings and gardens (weather permitting).Wander along the paths of the formal gardens and explore twelve-acres surrounding the home. Grandma's Saloon & Grill (buffet-style lunch): Marathon Spaghetti featuring zesty meat and tomato sauce with meatballs, Italian Breadsticks, Caesar‘s Salad, Beverage. After lunch stroll along the streets of Canal Park. The train staff will load guests into the dining cars. 11:15 a.m. Depart on the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad.The historic railroad recreates the atmosphere of rail travel using rebuilt cars from 1912 to 1918.Ride the rails to Bean Creek.
