  • Babysitting 101

    This course follows the American Academy of Pediatrics – Babysitter Lessons And Safety Training (BLAST). Students learn current practices for safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants, how to handle behavior problems, and how to manage their babysitting business. Students receive a reference book, recipe and game handouts, babysitting bag and first aid kit. Please bring a lunch, a snack and a beverage to class.

    Prepare for college applications with expert guidance on crafting compelling essays. Learn essential techniques and tackle common prompts to create standout essays, ensuring a stress-free application process and boosting your chances of success. Seniors who are applying to selective colleges, private colleges or specialized programs or scholarships will need to write an essay (or multiple essays). Seniors who delay this task until closer to application due dates often find this process rushed and stressful, undermining the quality of their essays—and their application. This session will teach the essential elements of the college essay and how to approach a variety of common essay prompts. Through fun brainstorming activities, students will walk out of the session motivated to continue working on their essay drafts before the start of their busy senior year.
  • Driver Education - PARENT/STUDENT MEETING

    Driver Education - Parent/Student Meeting (Pre-registration is required to attend the meeting) The Parent/Student Meeting is for parents and students, it is completely optional to attend. If attending, your student will log 40 Behind the Wheel hours rather than 50 hours if the meeting is not attended. The required number of Behind the Wheel hours is mandated by the state. NOTE: Signing your student up for the Parent/Student Meeting DOES NOT mean your student is enrolled in a Driver Education class. The Driver Education class is a completely separate enrollment.     Driver Education – Summer 2024 - June & July Sessions (Morning and Afternoon Options) STMA Driver Education summer classes are held at the STMA High School, 5800 Jamison Ave NE, St. Michael, MN 55376, see class schedules below. Perfect attendance is required; however, if a student misses any class hours the time needs to be made up during the make-up session. If a student misses more than 3 hours the student will be WITHDRAWN from the class and only a partial refund will be returned. Students are required by the state to complete 30 classroom hours of Driver Education instruction in order to pass the class. The class schedules listed total 30 classroom hours. No one is allowed to miss the first day of class without prior approval. Students must have a copy of the Minnesota Class D Driver's Manual to attend the class.   • Esports Summer Camp

    The STMA summer esports camp is designed to provide an enriching and immersive experience for high school and middle school age students interested in the rapidly growing world of esports. Tailored specifically for younger gamers, this program offers an exciting opportunity for participants to explore and engage in competitive gaming within a collegiate esports center setting hosted at North Central University's esports arena! Participants are able to choose from 3 days where different games will be the focus of instruction. Wednesday will include Rocket League and Super Smash Bros Thursday will include League of Legends and Fortnite Friday will include Valorant NCU will provide lunch but students are welcome to bring their own cold lunch if they would like. Transportation to NCU's Campus will be provided. Please arrive to the STMA HS at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure at 8am.
  • Math-By-Mail

    Elevate math skills with Math-By-Mail's engaging curriculum, designed by experienced teachers. Independent study featuring enrichment activities. Customized packets tailored to student needs, with expert feedback. Complete at your own pace! Keep young minds active with the locally developed Math-By-Mail curriculum. Math practice accompanied by enrichment activities for the upcoming summer months. Created by current middle school math teachers with 45+ years of combined experience! Minnesota State Standards, Math Frameworks MCA strands, and current Minnesota Benchmarks are the foundational basis for this curriculum. With creative problem solving, multiple choice, short answer and vocabulary embedded into an 8-week course of independent study, students will maintain or increase the level of their math understanding, in addition to reviewing the recommended targets suggested by grade level in the Minnesota School Academic Standards for mathematics. Each student will be given a pretest to assess the appropriate skill level necessary to strengthen their individual math needs, unlike other programs that are exclusively grade level driven. Students will receive an 8-lesson packet to complete at their own pace throughout the summer. Not only are we offering our predetermined set of 8 packets, we will also offer an ala carte menu! Our added approach allows for individual choice regarding the skills and concepts students and parents can request to build math confidence. As students finish packets, they are mailed back for feedback and then returned to the students. All packets are due back by August 11 in order to provide timely feedback before the 2024 school year begins. Registration Ends June 30th.   • Middle School Marching Band

    Strike up the Marching Band! STMA is offering an introductory marching band experience for young musicians. This group is open to any student enrolled in 6th, 7th or 8th grade band during the 2023-24 school year. Students learn the basics of marching and prepare music to perform in the Albertville Friendly City Days Parade. Rehearsals will take place June 3-7 at Middle School West from 9:30am-12:00pm. Students should have two years of playing experience. We will have a color guard section to enhance the musical performance with flags and a banner (pending enrollment). Students in the colorguard do not have to play a musical instrument to participate. The colorguard is open to any sixth or seventh grader. Students will march in the Albertville Friendly City Days parade on Sunday, June 9th. Students will be involved in the parade for approximately 2 hours. More information will follow based on our position in the parade route. Students will wear a camp t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes for the parade.     Understand the key tasks and timelines of Junior year to ensure your college-bound student is positioned for optimal success (and minimal stress) when applying to colleges. With nearly 4,000 degree-granting colleges and universities in the United States, it can feel overwhelming to identify schools that will best fit a students’ academic, social and economic needs. This session will help Rising Juniors and a family member understand the college application landscape and how to narrow down their college options so they can feel more prepared for application season next fall. Participants will walk away from the session with a College Planning Timeline and tools to manage the process.
