Many came from hard times voluntarily and others came involuntarily to do “hard time” as prisoners of war. Visit the Germanic-American Institute and the Assumption Church. Germans were the largest ancestry group in Minnesota according to the 2000 census. They are also the largest single immigrant group in Minnesota history. Learn about things like the Christmas Tree tradition, we all treasure, Breweries, Minnesota 13, Grasshoppers, and amazing Bakeries. After the tour, stop for a German-style lunch at Gluek’s Restaurant. Menu choice includes: 1.) Schweineschnitzle Spaetzle.
